We Are Who We've Been
Cloning and genetic manipulation. The final frontier of man’s desire to be like God in his power over the human existence. For some, it is an abomination. For others, the answer to many of this life’s problems.
The reality of many of these views is that all land on a slippery slope. To stop scientists from doing anything related to cloning is to stop much of the medical research...

Daily Scripture Strikes Again
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.”
- Matthew 5:13
“If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left”
- Hebrews 10:26
This one I needed. It’s tough to...

Life is Only Gets Complicated if You Let it
So I’ve been looking at the course offering at MUN for Fall 2011 (that’s this fall, they name terms after what year the school year ends in), and I’m getting pretty excited. Granted the beginning of the fall term spells the end of summer, but I hope classes will keep me sufficiently distracted until Christmas.
I plan on enlisting in the following:
Geog2001 - Cultural...

Plans For the Future
Why post this?
Because I can
Because you are my audience, and I am your blogger
Because I want to look back on this and either laugh or think what I genius I am
Here’s the pitch. I love history, am told I’m a natural teacher, and I see how much highshool matters to teenagers. Combination? Take history in university, get BA. Move over to education, get BE. Get hired in remote...

Me Thinks A Change is in Order
There needs to be a visible sign of the difference I strive for in Christ. The people who don’t know me should be able to spot me. I’m not talking about donning a monk’s habit or dressing Amish style, rather something more contemporary.
Yes, lady and gentleman who follow me, I speak of body art. More specifically, tattoos. The Chi Rho symbol has appealed to me on several...

Waiting Pays, But Not Much
So after a 2 week wait for my Nikon lense to show up, I was finally able to pick it up today. Me being the moron I am, I decided last night that I should see how much money I saved by buying it on Ebay.
Ebay auction: $146US + $32US [shipping] + $6US[shipping insurance] + 27.96Cdn[border duties] = $227.00Cdn
Staples Business Co.: $229.99Cdn + 13% taxes = $259.89Cdn
2 weeks wait = $32.89?

Daily Bible Scripture on Fb
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
- 2 Corinthians 4:4
It’s been a while since I found a verse that struck home with its relevance to my daily life, but this one hit the target precisely. The shear rate of people that wander looking for...

Still Doesn't Remind Me of Anything
walk the streets of Japan until you are lost
a graveyard tan from carrying a cross
driving backwards in the fog
things aren’t as sacred once they’re dropped
gospel music and colourful clothing in the sun
things that i loved, things that i lost, things I held sacred that I’ve dropped
- Audioslave
Though an awesome song, there is a sad message. The writer comes to us from...

So It Would Seem
I hate exams. Not only my own, but other people’s as well. It’s not only because the stress and constant distraction mar any attempt to communicate, but also because of the time that is eaten up by studying.
Now that that’s out of my system, a recap of the past days’ events.

Today was supposed to be the highlight of my week so far… except of...

Think About It
Here we have a list of the many pairings for which we, the public, take for granted as simplistic.
#1. Galactic Empire vs. The Rebellion
#2. Um….
Okay that’s all I got off the top of my head, but the point will stand regardless.
In the Star Wars films, the Empire is always viewed as an overly militaristic and forceful group that is aligned with the Dark Side to rule the Galaxy. ...

A Book Everyone Should be Forced to Read
So I was looking through what I received for my birthday this year and I came across a book that I had specifically asked for. It’s called “Collapse”, by Jared Diamond, and it’s an in depth study on the rise and fall of ancient civilizations and the reasons for their failures or successes.
I realize this is not everyone’s fancy but I do recommend the previous book...
Downtown Shows
Yet to see a headlining band on stage, just sayin.
Though 2am at Signal Hill is something I could get used to. What with my hours being cut and all, there could be some more opportunities where the air is somewhat above frigid

It's An Acceptable Life
I had considered saying “it’s a wonderful life” but then realized that retail jobs quickly void any attempt at that statement.
Low wage jobs aren’t all that bad though, there’s little in responsibilities and the co-workers in the same situation make it worthwhile. Speaking of low wage jobs, a certain someone is now employed, congrats again. I’m guessing...

Head on up to Busy Town
Well then, today is set to be busy. By the time this post hits the tubes, I’ll have been at work for 2 hours on an 8am-5pm shift. This will be promptly followed with a pizza night and book/cd exchange at church. I will be leaving this event early to attend a bonfire that is scheduled for 7pm.
AAHHHHH!! Where has the time in my life gone?!
There was once a time in history when a busy day...

Lesson Plan
Well, tuesday’s shooting lesson went alright. The weather was sunny, but it was still wet and windy. As such, no final lessons were able to be attempted.
To combat the non-shooting-teaching-induced restlessness, we resorted to Monty Python tapes.
“Great knights who say “Ni”, we have brought you your shrubbery. May we pass through the wood?”
“We are no longer...

Fun times planned for today, if the weather holds out that is. Going to be teaching a friend how to shoot using an air rifle.
Time to review the lesson plan: breathe in, breathe out. In and out again. Now once more in and let the last one go. Don’t breathe in, now shoot.
Breathing techniques and controlling your heart rate are byfar the hardest parts, other than that it’s just angle...
